Badflower have released a bold, powerful statement in the form of a song related to suicide. Ghost is a raw and honest telling that lyrically, quickly grabs the listener. With the addition of a thought-provoking and emotional video, the story unfolds from the point of view of a guy dealing with the tragic death of his love. It shows his grief and the struggle with moving on without her.

Lead singer, Josh Katz, has stated the song itself is about attempting suicide and although he himself has never attempted it, he has thought about it. “I wanted to write the specific details about how I would do it and what it would feel like. And what I might be thinking about in those final moments. Who it would affect and what I would leave those people with. I wanted to capture those thoughts in the rawest form, without burying them in metaphors and vagueness. So that’s what I did.” (Source:

While the topic of suicide can often be seen as taboo or something that is only spoken about behind closed doors, Badflower are bringing an issue to the forefront. As stated in the opening of the video:

“Suicide doesn’t end the chances of life getting worse. It eliminates the possibility of it ever getting better.” –Unknown

  1. I’m not sure if I love or hate this song for making me live through the pain and anguish that it holds… sometimes I wish I didn’t feel things so deeply. Their songs are so damn beautiful and real.
Badflower is, undoubtedly and deservedly, the band of the future.
