In 2013, Metallica played South Shetland Islands, Antarctica which allowed them to set a world record for being the first band to perform on all seven continents within a calendar year. A documentary of their experience on the frozen tundra, titled Freeze ‘Em All, is now available online.
The 20-minute documentary, shot by director Adam Dubin, (A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica) follows the band as they prepare, take in some sightseeing and perform an exclusive show for contest winners in December 2013.
Lars comments in the film, “Coming to the ends of the earth is something that we’ve always dreamt of and Metallica has always been very open to going to new, unexplored territory. We love to get out of the house and explore and there’s no better place to do it than right here.”
“Are you ready to make history?” -James Hetfield
“I loved having a gang of people behind me. Every time you turned around they were just like a chorus.” -Kirk Hammett
